From 24-26 March, the FRACCEO team joined colleagues from across the ESA Climate Change Initiative at the CCI Colocation & CMUG Integration Meeting 2026, held at ESA ECSAT in Harwell (UK) and online.
The meeting brought together scientists and project teams working on Essential Climate Variables, climate modelling and downstream climate services. It was a great opportunity to reconnect, share updates, and explore how different CCI projects can better work together as part of Climate Space.
FRACCEO presented its progress and contributed to discussions on how Earth‑observation‑based climate data can support urban coastal flood risk assessments, and how this work fits into the wider CCI ecosystem. Exchanges during the Climate Space sessions helped identify common challenges, potential synergies with other projects, and opportunities to align methods and datasets.
Beyond the presentations and breakout sessions, the meeting was also about community: informal discussions, learning from each other’s experiences, and shaping ideas that will feed into future ESA activities under Earth Action and Climate Space Phase 2.
Participation in events like this helps ensure that FRACCEO remains closely connected to both the scientific community and the evolving needs of climate services, supporting ESA’s broader efforts to deliver actionable climate information in line with the Paris Agreement.
